Dentists' Day On The Hill
Dentists' Day on the Hill 2012
More than 120 dentists, dental spouses and dental students made their way to Tallahassee for the 2012 Dentists’ Day on the Hill (DDOH).
On Jan. 31, a legislative briefing was held for participants to receive an update on the issues to be discussed during their legislative meetings. Registration packets
were picked up at the briefing, along with the “thumbs up/thumbs down” cards to be left with each legislator. During the briefing, Sen. Alan Hays (R-Umatilla), Rep. Fred Costello (R-Ormond Beach) and Rep. Lori Berman (D-Delray Beach) stopped by to address the group and encourage them to develop relationships with their legislators in the district. It really makes a big difference if there is already a solid relationship established in the district before coming to Tallahassee to meet with them during session.
On Feb. 1, dentists took charge and made their way to the Capitol to advocate on behalf of the FDA. During the Senate session on the floor, Sen. Hays thanked all of the dentists in attendance during DDOH and gave a special recognition to dentists sitting in the gallery. Senate President Mike Haridopolos (R-Melbourne), along with other legislators, stopped by the Dentists’ Day lunch under the Senate portico. Also during the lunch, dentists had the opportunity to participate in “on-site video interviews” as part of the FDA’s efforts to create new material to be used as outreach to recruit new members.
Thank you to the Alliance of the FDA for their continued support in sponsoring and coordinating
Dentists’ Day on the Hill. If you did not make this year’s event, we hope to see you next year. (Details to be announced soon!)
