Florida Mission of Mercy

The Florida Mission of Mercy (FLA-MOM) is a free, two-day dental clinic for low- and no-income people in Florida. This is a first-come, first-serve event with a goal of treating 2,000 patients in two days. The next MOM event will be held in April 2016 in the Jacksonville region. The numbers for the 2014 MOM event are as follows:

  • 1660 patients treated
  • 8017 treatment procedures
  • 350+ dentists/registered dental hygienists
  • 1100+ support volunteers
  • 103 dental chairs
  • 40,000 square foot venue
  • $1,141,648 worth of treatment

Project: Dentists Care

Project: Dentist Care, Inc. (PDC) is a nonprofit, charitable organization that was formed under the guidance of the Foundation in 1993. PDC is a community of dentists who volunteer their time and services to provide a safety net of preventive and restorative dental care to those in greatest need, as well as numerous 501(c)(3) organizations around the state of Florida. Over the past two years PDC has partnered with local agencies and dentists to provide free dental care to foster children in the Orlando and Tallahassee areas and have provided over $75,000 worth of oral health care in three events. Our members provide approximately $11 million in pro-bono dental care annually.

The next Foundation-sponsored event will be held in June 2015 in the Orlando region. The numbers for the 2014 PDC event are as follows:

  • 70 children (2 could not be treated)
  • $35,473 in donated treatment
  • $3200 donated time
  • $1600 assistant time
  • Total $40,273 financial contributions (without supplies)
