Mentoring Opportunities for Students

DR. LOUIS J. ATKINS MENTOR PROGRAM

The Florida Dental Association’s Dr. Louis J. Atkins Mentor Program offers pre-dental students, dental school students, and new dentists in Florida the opportunity to develop a professional mentor/mentee relationship with an FDA member dentist in your area. Usually this is in the form of phone calls, emails and shadowing the dentist in the office for a period of time agreed upon by both parties.

Students and new dentists can gain an important, practical perspective on the profession, including dental techniques, types of practices, staff and patient relations and practice management techniques. Mentors also can personally address many questions or concerns you may have about the profession of dentistry and can help ensure a smooth transition from dental school to becoming a dentist after you graduate.
