ACCESS TO CARE PROGRAMS

The Florida Dental Association sponsors statewide access to care programs for needy individuals through Project: Dentists Care (PDC). These programs promote the importance of good dental health for people of all ages. The FDA's mission is to advance public health through professional education, public advocacy, high practice standards and improving the professional practice environment.

Project Dentists Care consists of volunteer dental team members who provide pro bono or reduced-fee services to children and adults who do not qualify for public assistance, but who have a substantial unmet need for dental care. To locate volunteer dentists in your area, use the PDC Resource guide, and search by county for your nearest PDC dentist.

Give Kids a Smile, a national dental care event sponsored by the American Dental Association aimed at enhancing the oral health of thousands of needy children, is the signature dental charity program of PDC held annually during the month of February.

GIVE KIDS A SMILE

In February, many Florida dentists observe Children's Dental Health Month by coordinating individual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) events.

GKAS is the signature dental-charity program of Project: Dentists Care (PDC), a non-profit charitable organization of the Florida Dental Association. Through PDC, GKAS volunteers provide free dental care and education to children throughout the state who would not otherwise be able to afford it.

PDC's main objective is to build networks of volunteer dentists throughout Florida to increase access-to-care for financially needy and uninsured people in Florida.
