The FDA Foundation launched its signature philanthropic program in 2014, the Florida Mission of Mercy (FLA-MOM). FLA-MOM is a large-scale, two-day, professional dental clinic that provides care to any patient at no cost to them with the goal of serving the under-served and uninsured in Florida — those who may otherwise go without care. The 6th FLA-MOM will be held in Jacksonville July 30-31, 2021. FLA-MOM seeks to have a positive impact on the Northeast Florida community by providing important access to dental care while restoring dignity and creating smiles.
The safety of all volunteers and patients is the FDA Foundation's top priority. All FLA-MOM protocols and safety procedures are being reviewed and we are closely monitoring all federal, state and local COVID-19 guidelines and protocols in addition to guidance from the American Dental Association.
Revisions to FLA-MOM site plans and traditional protocols are being made, including the following: increased space for each department in addition to more space between departments, increased dental chair distancing, aerosol management efforts, hand sanitation stations, appropriate PPE for volunteers and required face coverings for all, including volunteers and patients.
