HB 851 - Mandatory Human Trafficking CE Course and Posters
HB 851 outlines several changes to human trafficking laws by creating a new requirement for various health care practitioners, including dentists and dental hygienists to take a one-hour CE course on human trafficking by Jan. 1, 2021. This is a one-time only CE requirement and the one-hour is included in the total number of CE hours required for dentists and hygienists’ license renewal. The course must address both sex and labor trafficking, how to identify individuals who may be victims of human trafficking, how to report cases on human trafficking and resources available to victims. The FDA recommends you reach out to your local component to see if they are offering this mandatory one-hour course. You may also find a list of Florida Board of Dentistry approved courses at CEBroker.
Changes have been made to the poster, and new ones must be printed and displayed by all health care practitioners by Jan. 1, 2025. A sign must be posted in your office in a place accessible to employees that states specific language outlined by the legislation, with specific requirements for font size and display size. Use the links below to get your copy of this poster for your office. The poster can be printed on 11" x 17" paper or two 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper (that should be posted together in an 11" x 17" configuration).
