Website Accessibility: Is Your Practice Prepared?

Website accessibility is an important consideration for dental practices. After learning that small businesses were facing legal challenges over alleged website accessibility issues, Florida Dental Association member Dr. Gary Altschuler took a closer look at his own practice website and worked with his website provider to make improvements. His experience is a good reminder to be proactive: review your website, talk with your website provider about accessibility and understand the protections your practice has in place. Staying connected with organized dentistry can also help you identify emerging issues and find trusted resources when you need them.

A few steps to consider:

  • Use the flowchart to identify potential accessibility issues on your website.
  • Ask your website provider or developer to review and address any concerns.
  • Consider automated and manual accessibility testing.
  • Review your insurance coverage, including cyber liability protection available through FDA Services.
